Tips for BCCI

India was slightly unfortunate with the outcome of the ODI today with Pakistan. Our batting and fielding is definitely looking in good shape, but with this bowling attack we are definitely not winning the World Cup! With Bhaggi not playing and Irfan not swinging it is too slow and non-threatening!

Some ideas on how we can change things:

  • Get a bowling coach ASAP! Greg Chappel is excellent but we could do a lot with a bowling specialist.

  • Anil Kumble needs to make a come-back in ODIs

  • Our swing bowlers need to learn how to swing the ball! :p They should all give it a try in the nets before the start of the game. Whoever can manage to swing the ball (by mistake) should be allowed to play. Irfan can opt to just bat full time.

  • BCCI is the richest cricket council in the world. I think we should just buy off 3 of the best bowlers in the world. (Asif could be an excellent investment, Bret Lee can give us the pace and we need someone to provide some more variety.) The council definitely has the money, and the Indian citizenship would not take more than a day :D

Yeah Prabs, I totally support your suggestions and would like to add more to it...
a. There should be an Indian coach aswell. One reason being that most of the Indian cricketers are not very comfortable with english and its pretty hard to pick up the australian accent.
b. I was having a conversation with one of the Pakistanis here regarding Pakistan producing very good bowlers. He gave his view (with which I was pretty surprised ) that Pakistanis have a lot of non-veg food. This helps the bowlers to make their arm strong enough to swing the ball. So, Indian cricket team should have a very efficient dietician :).

Cool suggestions prabs but getting Anul Kumble to ODIs??? you must be outta your mind! hez too old to keep up pace with a one day game. Also i think it's time for Amit Desai to switch careers and give Irfan Pathan some competition, what do u say ;)?
Can't think of anything else funny or witty to write, so i'll end here!

If Kumble is good for 5 day tests then I am sure he is young enough for a 1 day! Plus he was in form the recent tests.

OMG! From being the poster boy of AIESEC India and Germany, Desai could actually become the face of Indian cricket!!!!!! But I doubt ICC will let him use the tennis ball :D

Am sure Amit is gonna give this offer a serious thought, enff of being on the posters the potential gets wasted there, he needs to prove by getting into some good action...hehehe- way say Amit???

Ok enough of this! My dream career is made a big mockery... I will come back to cricket like Dave Houghton of Zimbabwe who made a debut at 41. So dont rule me out!

My two bits on this:
1. Kumble - make him a fast bowler
2. Bring Venkatesh Prasad and train him to be a spinner

This will help these 2 bowlers to work on their strengths and confuse the batsmen!

So tomorrow is the big day, 2nd ODI of the series. I hope Sharmin, you have been overlooking the diet of the Indian players and Amit I hope your bags are packed, in case of any eventuality!
